Simpson University Student-Athlete Earns First-Team All-American Golf Honor

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University sophomore Mitch Card earned a First-Team All-American honor following a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I National Championship Tournament on Oct. 11–13.
Card, from Redding, Calif., is the first student-athlete to receive the First-Team All-American Golf honor in Simpson University history.
Card has been a main player for the men’s golf team, which is now in its second season. He is playing the No. 1spot this year and led the Red Hawks’ team to qualify for the NCCAA tournament held at the Hombre Golf Course in Panama City, Fla.
Card shot rounds of 74, 77, and 73 in the three rounds which earned him ninth out of a top 10 finish and the All-American honor.
Joe Griffin, Simpson University’s athletic director, said, “We look forward to watching Mitch play the rest of the year as he improves even more. It’s already been a great start to the golf season.”
