Simpson finishes third and fourth in Cal Pac Championships

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University cross country team hosted the 2009 Cal Pac Championships on Friday, Nov.6 on the Simpson University campus.

Simpson women's cross country team finished fourth, while Simpson's men finished third. Senior Henry Kosky finished fifth in the 8k with a time of 29:13. Senior Lynette Garringer finished seventh in the 5k with a time of 22:33.

The Mills College women and Holy Names men won their respective races. Mills placed three runners in the top six, paced by individual champion Lupe Cazares, a senior who toured the soggy 5K course in 21:3. The top five Cyclones all finished in the top 15 spots.

HNU senior Juan Gomez raced to the men's title on the 8K course in 27:34 to lead four teammates into the top 13, including four in the top ten.

Garringer and Kosky both qualified for the NAIA cross country national tournament, which will be held in Vancouver, Wash., on Nov.19-21.
