Simpson University’s Men’s Golf Team Gears Up for NCCAA National Tournament

REDDING, Calif. – Simpson University is pleased to announce that the men’s golf team has qualified for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I National Championship Tournament. This is the first season that the Red Hawks have qualified for the national tournament since launching the golf program last fall. The men's golf championship will be held Oct. 11-13 at Edgewater Beach Resort at the Hombre Golf Course in Panama City, Florida.

Joe Griffin, Simpson University’s athletic director, said, “It is a great honor to qualify for the NCCAA National Tournament our second year of the program. This is a great opportunity for our student athletes.”

The Red Hawks qualified for the tournament by winning the Northwest Christian University golf tournament on Sept. 19 and 20 in Eugene, Ore., and finishing last spring with a third-place finish in the Cal Pac. The Red Hawks shot a total score of 647, with Mitch Card and Jeff Solomon leading the way, each shooting a 156 total score.

This will be the second 54-hole tournament the Red Hawks have played this season.
