Simpson University Sports News

Klamath Falls, Ore. - Simpson clashed with the Cascade Conference powerhouse Oregon Institute of Technology on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at Danny Miles Court on the OIT campus. OIT was the 2008 national champions for NAIA division II, and the perennial heavyweight displayed its offensive power against the Red Hawks, winning 78-57.

The Red Hawks were able to take an early lead and defend that lead until 11:47 left in the first half. At that point OIT took over and began to build their lead. The Owls took a 35-24 advantage going into halftime. OIT would only build upon that lead in the second half, eventually getting it as high as 24 points.

Simpson got strong play from Dwight Bond and Jason Stubbs. Bond knocked down 15 points to lead all scorers. Stubbs displayed his skill with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Joseph Foster accounted for 18 points in 32 minutes of play for OIT.

Simpson now looks to earn its first win at Carroll College on Nov. 6 in Helena, Mont.
