Simpson University men’s golf signs standout from Yuba City

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University head golf coach Joe Griffin announced the signing of Nicholas Maddalena of Yuba City, Calif., to the Red Hawks men’s golf team. The student-athlete signed a commitment to play for Simpson during the 2010-2011 academic year.

Maddalena will join the Red Hawks from Faith Christian High School, where he played varsity for four years and earned all-league honors three times and MVP twice.

Coach Griffin said he is excited to have him join the Red Hawks.

“Nicholas is a great talent and will bring a competitive spirit to our golf team,” Griffin said. “We are extremely excited to see what great things he will bring during his time at Simpson University.”

Maddalena said, “I love the mental aspect of golf and I’m looking forward to new challenges in college and being a part of a winning program.”

Maddalena plans to enroll in Simpson University’s biology major in the fall.
