Red Hawks sweep Lady Oaks

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s softball team swept a doubleheader against Menlo University on Friday March 6 in Atherton, Calif. The Lady Red Hawks won the first game 2-1 and the second game 9-5.
In the first game, Leah Metz scored a run in the top of the third inning when Stephanie Singh grounded out to second base. Valerie Rodriguez scored in the top of the fifth inning off of a Paige Gomez single to right field. Amanda Crocker was the winning pitcher.
In the second game, the Red Hawks had a huge third inning where they scored seven runs. Metz scored on a wild throw by Menlo’s pitcher. Sylvia Parker and Nicki Feuerbach both scored on a Danielle Cristoso single to left field. Candice Valerga scored on a Corinne Alexander single to right field. Cristoso scored when Rodriguez also singled to right field. Rodriguez scored off a Metz single to right. Ashley Rovito scored when Parker singled to short. In the top of the fourth inning, Simpson scored two more runs. Crisosto and Alexander both reached home on a Rovito single to right field. Trinity Cuff was the winning pitcher for Simpson.
The Red Hawks hold an overall record of 11-9 and 4-2 recorded in Cal Pac. Their next game is a doubleheader on Friday March 13 against the Southern Oregon in Redding, Calif. The first game starts at noon.
