Red Hawks split with Owls

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University’s Lady Red Hawks split a doubleheader against Oregon Tech on Saturday, March 14. They lost the first game 6-5 and won the second game 5-3.

In the first game Valerie Rodriguez scored the first run on a hit to center field by Ashley Rovito. Paige Gomez and Stefanie Singh scored runs from a hit to center field by Nicki Feuerbach. Brianna Melgard scored a run on Gomez’s line drive to center field and Danielle Crisosto scored the last run on another hit by Feuerbach to center field.

During the second game, Candice Valerga scored a run on a Rodriguez double; Feuerbach scored a run on Rodriguez’s hit to center field. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Crisosto and Valerga both scored runs on Feuerbach’s powerful hit to far center field. The game ended in the seventh inning after Oregon Tech was unable to score any runs due to Melgard’s excellent pitching.

The Lady Red Hawks are 15-11 overall and 5-3 in Cal Pac. Their next game is on Friday, March 20 against Patten College in Redding, Calif. at noon.
