Lady Red Hawks split doubleheader with Vanguard

COSTA MESA, Calif. - The Lady Red Hawks softball team played a doubleheader against Vanguard University on Feb. 18 in Costa Mesa, Calif. Simpson won the first game 4-3. The Lady Red Hawks scored all four of their runs in the top of the seventh inning to come from behind to win the game. Stephanie Singh started off Simpson’s four run rally with a double to left field. Corinne Alexander, Danielle Crisosto, and Valerie Rodriguez all scored on Singh’s double. Singh scored the winning run off a Paige Gomez single to right field.

Simpson lost the second game of the doubleheader 7-2. Vanguard got off to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and Simpson could not catch up. The Lady Red Hawks scored two runs in the sixth inning. Singh scored the first of Simpson’s two runs off a Sylvia Parker double to left center field. Parker scored when Candice Valerga hit a single.
