Simpson volleyball fall to Holy Names

REDDING, Calif. - Despite strong performances from Kelly Brown and Kristina Gibson, the Simpson Red Hawks volleyball team was unable to get over the hump against Holy Names on Sat, Oct. 3 in the Heritage Student Life Center losing 0-3. Brown got eight kills and 14 digs, and Gibson got five kills and 10 digs in this tough match-up.
The Holy Names University Hawks came into the game with a 1-1 conference record and a 5-10 overall record. The Red Hawks have yet to hit their stride and entered with a 1-9 overall and a 0-1 conference record. Holy Names easily won the first two games 25-18, 25-15.
Simpson made its most competitive stand of the night in the third game jumping ahead 15-5. Holy Names answered with a series of subs and was able to even the game up at 19-19. The shift in momentum led the Hawks to score the next six consecutive points leading to their eventual win 25-19.
The Red Hawk volleyball team now looks to return to its winning ways against Mills College on Fri, Oct. 9 at the Heritage Student Life Center. The game starts at 4 p.m.
