Corban depth defeats Lady Red Hawks

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University women’s basketball team was defeated by Corban College 52-69 on Saturday, Dec. 12 in Salem, Ore.

The Warriors opened up with a 6-0 run in the first three minutes, until senior guard Leslie Hirshfield hit back-to-back 3-pointers to tie the game. This started a Simpson 17-4 run. Simpson would have the lead for the majority of the first half until Corban hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put them up by three at halftime 30-27.

In the second half, the Warriors dominated the game going up by as much as 22 points. Simpson got as close as 15 points but the lead was too big to overcome.

Hirshfield led Simpson with 16 points shooting 6-8 from the field and 4-4 from three-point line. Elizabeth Thomas contributed 15 points and shot 11-14 from the free-throw line.

Simpson returns to action Dec. 15 against No. 9 Southern Oregon University in the Heritage Student Life Center. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
