Red Hawks stumble against Holy Names

Simpson University Sports News

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson's women’s soccer team clashed with the Holy Names University Hawks on Wed, Oct. 7 at Simpson’s soccer field. Unfortunately for the Red Hawks, Holy Names was able to pull out the 3-1 victory.

“We have to find some consistency,” Coach Nate Huntsinger said before the game. “If we play like we did against Southern Oregon we can beat anyone in our conference, but we have been riding a rollercoaster of inconsistency all season.”

The Red Hawks got solid play out juniors Courtney Opie and Karissa Hansen who accounted for over half of the team’s shots. The Red Hawks, however, could not control the ball well enough and allowed Holy Names to keep the ball on their half of the field for too long. The Holy Names Hawks doubled the amount of both shots and shots on goal that Simpson had in this game.

Simpson will again pursues consistency when they face Bethany University on Oct. 13 in Scotts Valley, Calif. Kick-off is at 11 a.m.
