Women's Soccer roll past Mills
Simpson University Sports News
REDDING, Calif. - The women’s soccer team has set the standard for sports at Simpson University. First year head coach Nate Huntsinger along with assistants Luke Manwaring and Dan Anderson have the Red Hawks running on all cylinders and Fri., Sept. 25, they displayed it, in a 6-0 romping of Mills College (0-3).
Simpson (4-4, 1-0 in the Cal Pac) came out firing, scoring four first half goals from junior Sarah Powell, seniors Christina Blackburn and Chalynn Passmore, and freshman Kelsey Robberson. In the second half Simpson added two more goals from sophomore Megan Furze and freshman Rebecca Borrelli, before the Red Hawks coaching staff reigned in their players and graciously stopped the offensive onslaught.
Women’s soccer, whose overall record is now at .500 and conference record is 1-0, has the most wins of any athletic team at Simpson. For a first year coaching staff and a team that has healthy amount of underclassman, this is a great sign not only for this season but also for seasons to come. There next contest is Sat., Oct. 3 against William Jessup at Simpson. Kick-off is at 1p.m.
