Simpson Baseball enters bid to NAIA West Regional Championship

REDDING, Calif. – For the first time in school history the Simpson University baseball team will compete in the NAIA West Regional Championship against No. 1 seed University of British Columbia on Thursday, May 6 at Vancouver, BC Canada.

The Red Hawks had one of the best years in the program’s history finishing 19-27, the most wins ever. Simpson finished fourth in a very competitive NAIA West Conference which features Bethany University, University of British Columbia, Oregon Tech, Corban College, College of Idaho, Concordia University (Ore.),and Patten University. The Red Hawks finished 12-17 in conference.

Under the direction of fourth year head coach Rick Bosetti, the Simpson baseball team has improved in wins each year. Last season the Red Hawks finished 14-32 overall and 7-23 in NAIA West Conference.

This year's NAIA West Championships will be held at the home site of the No. 1 seed, British Columbia, and get underway Thursday afternoon at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver, BC.

Thursday, May 6
Noon - No. 2 College of Idaho vs. No. 3 Oregon Tech
3:30 p.m. - No. 1 British Columbia vs. No. 4 Simpson University

Friday, May 7
8:30 a.m. - Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2 (loser eliminated)
Noon - Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2
3:30 p.m. - Winner Game Three vs. Loser Game 4 (loser eliminated)

Saturday, May 8
Noon - Winner Game Four vs. Winner Game 5
3:30 p.m. - Winner Game 6 vs. Loser Game 6 (if necessary>
