Oregon Tech knocks Red Hawks out of playoffs

VANCOUVER, British Columbia. – The Simpson University baseball team was eliminated from the NAIA West baseball tournament on Friday, May 7 by Oregon Tech. The Hustlin’ Owls defeated Simpson 4-1.

Oregon Tech scored two runs in the fourth inning for a quick 2-0 lead. The Red Hawks scored their only run in the fifth inning when Josh Corson hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Kris Warner.

Oregon Tech would score two more runs in the seventh to seal the 4-1 victory.

Senior Brad Hurn closed out his season with a stellar performance, that included six strikeouts and two earned runs on seven hits, while pitching a complete nine innings. Josh Riley went 2-for-2 from the plate with one walk. Chris Moody and Rico Adams each went 1-for-4 from the plate.

The Red Hawks close out their season with a 19-26 overall record and 12-15 NAIA West Conference record. This was a big improvement and a successful season which the Red Hawks baseball program will look to build on next year.
