Red Hawks lose day one series with OIT

REDDING, Calif. – The Simpson University baseball team was swept by Oregon Tech 13-4 in game one and 5-4 in game two on April 17 at Tiger Field.
In game one the Red Hawks allowed 13 hits and 13 runs in a 13-4 loss to the Hustlin’ Owls.
Shane Hillier was the losing pitcher, pitching 2.1 innings allowing seven hits and eight runs. Andrew Douglas pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and one run. He also walked four batters. Nick Mikkelson pitched three innings allowing five hits and four runs. He struck out one batter.
In game two, the Red Hawks displayed a better showing but still came up short losing 5-4.
Simpson had a 4-1 lead heading into the seventh inning until the Hustlin’ Owls scored one run in the seventh and three in the eighth to take the 5-4 victory.
Daniel Bartow was the losing pitcher, pitching 1.2 innings allowing one hit and one run. He struck out three batters. Brad Hurn pitched seven innings allowing seven hits and four runs. He struck out six batters.
