Simpson cross country competes at Cal Pac Preview

OAKLAND, Calif. – Simpson University's men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Cal Pac Preview at Mills College on Friday, Oct. 22. The women's team finished in first place followed by Holy Names University. The men's team finished in second place behind Holy Names.

The women's team had five runners finish in the top 10 in the women's 5k. Rebekah Studebaker finished in first place with a time of 21:29. Rebekah Groen finished in sixth with a time of 22:58. Vanessa Areiza placed eighth with a time of 23:09. Hannah Dooley finished ninth with a time of 23:47. Wendy Hecker rounded out the top 10 in 10th place with a time of 23:58.

The men's team had three runners in the top 10 in the men's 8k. Nathaniel Elles finished sixth with a time of 33:02. Chris Olson placed seventh with a time of 33:32; and Matt Eyman finished in eighth place with a time of 33:46. Holy Names University claimed the top five spots.

The next time these two teams will compete is on Friday, Nov. 5 at the Cal Pac Championships at Mills College. The races are set to start at 10:30 a.m.
