Red Hawks Loss to PUC

Simpson University Sports News

ANGWIN, Calif. - Simpson University men’s basketball team (0-1) traveled to Angwin, Calif., to play the Pacific Union College Pioneers (1-0). Simpson was hoping to extend their two game win streak to three; unfortunately due to a second half surge by the Pioneers, they were foiled in their plan, falling 57-62.

Justin Sparks continued his scoring surge accounting for 20 points and 13 rebounds, his second consecutive double-double. Jason Stubbs also played consistently scoring 18 points.

Pacific Union was led by Aren Rennacker, Kenny Penn, and Brandon Monty. The three combined for 41 of their team’s 62 points. Penn also added 14 rebounds.

Simpson hopes to bounce back from their first conference loss next week when they play rival William Jessup University at home on Jan. 14. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
