REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team struggled once again against Northwest Christian. They lost 84-80 to the Beacons.

The Red Hawks came out hot taking an early eight-point lead. Northwest Christian responded and eventually took a 45-37 halftime lead.

In the second half, senior Pat Magno and junior Calvin Smith stepped up and led the Red Hawks on a late charge. Simpson, who at one point was down 12, went on a miraculous run to bring the game within two points. At the end of the game, Magno had an open three-point look but his shot hit back of the rim.
