Simpson University Sports News
REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team men's basketball team was unable to rebound from last Friday's lose at home to Corban College in their home game against Northwest Christian University on Tuesday, Nov. 9. The Red Hawks were defeated 78-60 by the Beacons.
Even though Simpson was only down seven points at halftime (38-31), the size and speed of the Beacons proved to be too much for the Red Hawks to handle. Northwest Christian outscored Simpson 40-29 in the second half and out-rebounded them 31-21 for the game. The Beacons shot 50 percent from the three-point line compared Simpson's 35 percent shooting from behind the arc. Simpson, however, did force 19 turnovers.
Junior Phillip Templeton led Simpson with 15 points. Senior Justin Chapel followed with 13 points and seven rebounds. Junior Michael Stillman contributed 12 points, and senior Pat Magno dished out four assist. The Beacons were led by Kellen Spicer's 15 points and eight rebounds. Quentin Guidry had 14 points for Northwest Christian.
