Simpson loses close game to William Jessup

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Simpson University men’s basketball was defeated by William Jessup University 84-75 in the semi-finals of the California Pacific Conference tournament on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The Red Hawks jumped out early with a 5-0 lead. William Jessup battled back tying the game 10-10. There were several lead changes throughout the first half until Simpson went on a 8-0 run to take a 37-30 led. But the Warriors didn’t quit; they went on a run 7-2 run of their own going in to halftime 39-37.

In the second half, both teams battled back and forth. Each time one team made a run, the other would match it. The Warriors pulled away late in the second half going on a 13-3 run to seal their victory.

Senior Jason Stubbs led the Red Hawks with 24 points, and senior Justin Sparks contributed with 18 points.
