Simpson knocks Holy Names out of the Cal Pac playoffs

REDDING, Calif. - The No. 6 seed Simpson University men’s basketball team defeated No. 3 Holy Names University 110-101 on Thursday, Feb. 24 in Oakland, Calif., in the first round of the Cal Pac Conference tournament.
In the first half, the Red Hawks shot 62 percent from the field and scored a season high 54 points, which is six points below their 60 point per game average. Senior Justin Sparks led the Red Hawks with 20 points in the first half.
The second half was more of the same, as Simpson shot 68 percent from the field and 83 percent from the three-point line. Sparks led everyone in scoring with 36 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Jason Stubbs followed with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Dwight Bond contributed 20 points, shooting 3-for-3 from the three-point line.
Simpson returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 27 against No. 2 William Jessup University in the semi-finals of the Cal Pac Conference tournament. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. in Rocklin, Calif.
