Red Hawks can't get past Southern Oregon

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team lost to Southern Oregon University 70-44 on Tuesday, Nov. 16 in Redding, Calif. The Red Hawks were down 21 late in the first half, but they rallied behind the junior Phillip Templeton and senior Pat Magno to cut the lead to 16 at half time.

In the second half, the size and sharp shooting of Southern Oregon wore on the Red Hawks down. The Raiders out-rebound the Red Hawks 43-28.

Junior Calvin Smith lead the Red Hawks with 10 points, and juniors Bryan Castillo and Templeton each contributed nine points. Magno had six assists.

Jordan Highland was the leading scorer for Southern Oregon. He had 14 points. Kyle Tedder followed closely behind with 13 points. Kellen Hawley had 10 points and nine rebounds for the Raiders.

The Red Hawks face Southern Oregon again on Sunday, Nov. 21. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
