Red Hawks lose to sharp-shooting CSU Maritime

VALLEJO, Calif. - Coach Jon King and the Simpson University men’s basketball team (6-19, 2-8 Cal-Pac) traveled to Vallejo, Calif., to face the first place CSU Maritime Keelhaulers (18-11, 9-2 Cal Pac) on Saturday, Feb. 13. The Red Hawks kept it close for much of the game but were overcome by CSU Maritime and eventually fell 81-61.
Jason Stubbs led the Red Hawks with 27 points on 8-for-14 shooting for the night. Simpson only shot 34 percent in the game and committed 18 turnovers.
The Keelhaulers had four players scoring double digits in the game. Josh Greenwell led things for Maritime with 17 points. The Keelhaulers shot 49 percent from the field for the game and out rebounded the Red Hawks 37-19.
Simpson has two regular season games remaining, both of which are at home. Their next game is on Thursday, Feb. 18 against Bethany University. Simpson faces off against Menlo College on Saturday, February 20.
