REDDING, Calif. - The Southwestern College Eagles made the long drive from Arizona to face the Simpson University Red Hawks Wednesday, Jan. 6 at the Heritage Student Life Center. Justin Sparks made sure they would have an even longer drive back. Sparks, the reigning player of the week for the California Pacific Conference, added to his legacy by scoring 30 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, as the Red Hawks cruised to an 83-66 victory.

Simpson started the game with a 10-2 run and never looked back against the smaller Eagles. Simpson went up by as much as 34 points in the second half. Simpson was propelled by their hot hand from the three-point arc shooting 41 percent in the contest. Southwestern was never able to keep up with the fast breaking Red Hawks. The Eagles committed 19 turnovers, allowing Simpson to get out in the fast break and score easy transition points.

The Eagles did have one bright spot in their line-up as A.J. Koch scored a team high 28 points. Koch put on a shooting clinic going 5-8 from three-point range.

Simpson was also able to get solid performances from Andrew Schritter who scored 17 points (4-7 three-point FG) and Jason Stubbs who also added 17 points and six assists.

Simpson will be back in action Thursday evening when they play at Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif. Tip-off for the men's game is set for 7 p.m. To hear the game live visit the men's basketball schedule and results page.
