Warriors stand tall against Red Hawks

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team suffered another conference loss to William Jessup University on Thursday, Jan. 14 in the Heritage Student Life Center. They lost 73-84.
The Red Hawks battled with William Jessup in the first half. The lead changed ten times. Simpson was only down one point, 35-34, going into halftime. Senior Josh Sidener was the leading scorer at the half with eight points shooting 2-3 from the 3-point line.
In the second half, William Jessup went on a 12-6 run in to push their lead 42-49. The Red Hawks responded by going on a 10-2 run with 4:35 left in the game to close the gap to three. The run was lead by sharp-shooting junior Pat Magno and senior Justin Sparks. In the end, it wasn’t enough because William Jessup made its free throws to seal the victory 84-73.
Sparks led with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Jason Stubbs followed with 15 points, and fellow senior Sidener contributed 13 points.
