Simpson loses tough game to Bethany

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's soccer team suffered a tough home loss against Bethany University on Tuesday, Oct. 12. The Bruins out-shot the Red Hawks 17-9 and had 11 shots on goal compared to Simpson's four. Bethany won the game 6-2.
In a game that featured eight goals, only three players scored between the two teams. Simpson junior Michael Guzman had three shots for the game, and both of his shots on goal connected with the net. He scored his first goal off an assist by Jordan Reed in the 43:36. His second goal came in the 78:48. Bethany's Joel Pelton was the leading scorer of the game with four goals. Matheus Barbosa had two goals for the Bruins, and Kyle Pitchford recorded an assist.
The Red Hawks' next game is Saturday, Oct. 16 in Redding against Cal Pac member Menlo College. This is the first meeting between these two teams this season. The game is set to start at 3 p.m.
