Red Hawks and Bruins settle for scoreless tie

Newburg, Ore. - Simpson University men's soccer team looked to earn its first win against NCAA III opponent George Fox University, but instead the contest ended up in a 0-0 tie.

The Red Hawks allowed 21 shots in the game, and senior Matt Deacon recorded seven saves. In the extra overtimes, the Red Hawks had five have chances to win the game but were stopped by George Fox goalie Danny Kama.

Michael Guzman, Luis Perez, Kerry Meehan, and Tyler Goens each had two shots. Perez recorded two shots on goal and Meehan, Goens, and Brett Amstutz each had one shot on goal.

Simpson is now 0-1-1 and will return to action on Friday, Sept. 17 against Hope International at 1 p.m. in the NCCAA Soccer West Regional Tournament in San Clarita, Calif.
