Red Hawks lose on the road to William Jessup

ROCKLIN, Calif. - Simpson University men's soccer team was defeated 4-1 by conference opponent William Jessup University on Tuesday, Oct. 26 in Rocklin, Calif. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime, but the Warriors edged the Red Hawks out by scoring three unanswered goals in the second half to claim the 4-1 victory.
Junior Tyler Goens scored Simpson's only goal 39 minutes into the first half. Senior David Robertson recorded the assist. Freshman goalie Justin Webb allowed four goals and recorded 10 saves. Juniors Michael Haynes and Jordan Reed each had a shot on goal.
The Warriors out-shot the Red Hawks 19-9. Fourteen of the shots were shots on goal compared to Simpson's five shots on goal. David Ayvazyan, Jay Weislogel, Jose Ramirez, and Ricky Ward each scored a goal for William Jessup. Ward recorded five shots, four of which were on goal.
The Red Hawks' next game is Saturday, Oct. 30 against conference opponent Holy Names University. The game will be held at Simpson's home soccer field. Kick-off is at 3 p.m.
