Red Hawks bested by host team

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - On the second day of the NCCAA West Regional Qualifying Tournament, Simpson's men's soccer team suffered a tough loss to host team The Master's College. After a strong outing on day one of tournament play, the 7-1 loss was disheartening.

Junior Kerry Meehan scored an unassisted goal for Simpson's only point of the game. Tim Danna recorded three shots. Goalies Matt Deacon and Justin Webb combined efforts to rack up 20 saves. Deacon had 13, and Webb had seven.

The Master's College out-shot Simpson 42-4. Andrew Totaro and Victor Martinez each had two goals. Brian Gardner, David Myers, and Jader Santos each had one goal.

The Red Hawks face Southwester College on Monday, Sept. 20 in the third and final day of the tournament. Game time is scheduled for noon.
