Lady Red Hawks defeat Bethany

JONES VALLEY, Calif. - The Simpson University softball team defeated Bethany University 9-1 and 4-1 on Friday, April 9.

In the game one victory, the Red Hawks’ Paige Gomez went 2-for-3 from the plate with two RBIs. Stefanie Singh was also 2-for-3 from the plate with a RBI and two runs scored. Nicole Hutchins was 1-for-2 with a RBI and a run scored.

Krystal Shaw was the winning pitcher, pitching a complete game. Shaw allowed one hit and one run and struck out five batters.

The Red Hawks were led by Gomez once again in game two as she went 1-for-4 from the plate with two RBIs and a home run. Nicki Feuerbach was 3-for-4 from the plate with one run and a RBI. Catcher Bryanna Esquivel was 2-for-3 from the plate, and Hutchins went 1-for-1.

Amanda Crocker was the winning pitcher;she pitched a complete game. Crocker allowed 10 hits and one run. She also struck out six batters.

The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, April 10 against Menlo College. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
