Red Hawks sweep through Oakland: Day One

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Simpson University softball team defeated Patten College 7-0 and 12-4 on Friday, March 26 in Oakland, Calif.
In game one, the Red Hawks scored all seven runs in the fourth inning. Corinne Alexander and Valerie Rodriguez scored the first two runs off an Amanda Ayala triple. Bryanna Esquivel reached first base on a fielder’s choice which allowed Ayala to score. Morgan Davis hit a double to left later in the inning which allowed Esquivel to score. On the next at bat, Nichole Hutchins hit a triple to right bring Davis home for a 5-0 lead. Then Nicki Feuerbach doubled to left allowing Hutchins to score. Feuerbach provided the final score when Patten’s Mallorie Wilson bobbled the ball allowing Feuerbach to score and advance Alexander to first base.
Feuerbach was 2-for-4 from the plate with a RBI; Alexander went 1-for-3 from the plate with a RBI. Ayala was 1-for-2 with a RBI, and Davis and Hutchins both went 1-for-4 from the plate with a RBI.
Amanda Crocker was the winning pitcher. She pitched all seven innings striking out three batters and allowing no hits.
In game two, the Red Hawks continued their dominance defeating Patten 12-4.
Feuerbach was 4-for-5 from the plate with three RBIs. Stefanie Singh was 3-for-4 with a RBI, and Paige Gomez was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Hayley Rodriguez was the winning pitcher. Rodriguez struck out ten batters and allowed three hits and no runs. Trinity Cuff pitched one inning allowing six hits and four runs.
