Lady Red Hawks win impressive game over Menlo

REDDING, Calif. – The Lady Red Hawks volleyball team improved their conference record to 5-2 with an impressive win over Menlo College on Friday, Oct. 15 at the Heritage Student Life Center in Redding. The Lady Red Hawks won three sets to one. Simpson won the first, second and fourth matches. Menlo won the third match.

The Lady Red Hawks played another great defensive game. As a team, Simpson dominated the net with 12 total blocks, while Menlo only had seven. Senior Micala Drews led Simpson's defensive performance with 21 digs. Freshman Lauren Godinet followed closely behind with 18 digs. Simpson also had a strong offensive match. Junior Chanel Coleman had another great game with 15 kills. Freshman Cashel White had a strong offensive and defensive game with 13 kills and 13 digs.

Mia Ortiz had a solid overall game for the Lady Oaks with six kills and 14 digs. Emelina Garcia and Shelby Goldman each had 13 digs for Menlo.

This win over Menlo increases Simpson's win streak to five. They also have wins over Northwest Christian University, Mills College, Pacific Union College, and Bethany University. The Lady Red Hawks look to continue their winning streak with a victory over visiting non-conference opponent Multnomah Bible University on Saturday, October 16 in the Heritage Student Life Center in Redding. The game is set to start at 6 p.m.
