Red Hawks lose tough home game to OIT

REDDING, Calif. – The Simpson University's women's volleyball team was defeated by 3-1 (16-25, 25-17, 14-25, 20-25) by OIT on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at the Heritage Student Life Center in Redding, Calif.

In the first set, Simpson and OIT battled back and forth for the first 10 points. OIT then went on a 14-6 run to close out the game (25-16).

The Lady Red Hawks dominated the second set. They went on a 12-5 run to start the game. Senior Micala Drews had a huge kill later in the game to bring the score to 22-14. Simpson maintained the lead for the rest of the set (25-17).

OIT started the third set off with a 4-1 lead. Simpson responded with it's own 3-0 lead to tie the game at four. OIT dominated the rest of the set by going on a 19-9 run to close out the set (25-14).

Simpson and OIT were evenly matched in the fourth set. It was OIT, however, who had the upper hand and won 25-20.

Drews lead Simpson with 10 kills and 10 digs. Junior Chanel Coleman had eight kills, and junior Jenny Hopkins had 11 digs.

Simpson's record is now 0-11. Their next game is Wednesday, September 15 against Chico State University in the Heritage Student Life Center. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
