Simpson Volleyball drops two in Paul Elliot Invitational

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Simpson University volleyball team was defeated by Oregon Tech 3-1 at the Paul Elliot Invitational in Ashland, Ore on Friday, August 20.

Simpson won game one 25-21, but the team lost game two (19-25), game three (16-25), and four (23-25).

Micala Drews led the Red Hawks with 14 kills; she also contributed 16 digs. Junior Jenny Hopkins recorded a team high 19 digs, and Lauren Godinet followed with 17 digs. Cashel White recorded 12 kills, 10 digs and five aces.

In the second match Simpson was defeated by Embry-Riddle (Fla.) in three straight matches (25-20, 25-14, 25-12).

Kelly Tycksen led the Red Hawks with 10 aces and 10 digs. White contributed six kills and six digs.

The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, Aug. 21 against University of Montana Western at 10 a.m. followed by a 1:30 p.m. match between host school Southern Oregon University.
