Lady Red Hawks suffer two tough loses in Paul Elliot Invitational

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Simpson University volleyball team suffered two loses on Saturday, August 21 on the final day of the Paul Elliot Invitational against University of Montana Western and Southern Oregon.

In match one, the Lady Red Hawks faced University of Montana Western from the Frontier Conference. The height and experience of the Lady Bulldogs was too much as they defeated Simpson in three matches (25-12, 25-19, 25-20).

In the second match, the Lady Red Hawks faced host school Southern Oregon. The Lady Raiders defeated Simpson in three straight matches (25-12, 25-13, 25-17).

Kelly Tycksen led the Red Hawks with 11 aces, while Jenny Hopkins contributed 10 kills. Micala Drews recorded a team high 10 digs, and Kelly Brown led Simpson with seven kills.

Tycksen led Simpson in aces with 13. Liz Huntsman recorded six digs, and Brown led with eight kills.

Simpson returns to action on Sept. 1 against Oregon Tech at 6 p.m. in Klamath Falls, Ore.
