Simpson battles Hope in game one of NCCAA West Regional

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University's women's basketball team faced off against Hope International University in game one of the NCCAA West Regional Classic on Friday, Dec. 17 in Redding, Calif. Even though they were down by only one at halftime (32-31), the Lady Red Hawks struggled in the second half and lost the game 82-68.
Freshman Nichole Jones led Simpson with 14 points. Freshman Bekah Wofford followed close behind with 13 points. Senior Tiffany Johnson had a double-double. She scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Hope International's Lauren Salazar was the game's top scorer. She had 20 points. Kasey Philyaw and Samera Dorton each had 17 points. Champ Hood added 13 points to Hope's score.
Tournament play will continue on Saturday, Dec. 18. The Lady Red Hawks play The Master's College a t 6 p.m. Hope International takes on Southwester College at 2 p.m.
