Lady Red Hawks battle hard against OIT

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Simpson University's women's basketball team traveled to Klamath Falls, Ore., on Tuesday, Nov. 30 and battled with the Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls. These two teams first faced each other in a close contest on Wednesday, Nov. 24 in Redding, Calif.
The second meeting between Simpson and OIT was close as well. The Lady Red Hawks were down 28-23 at halftime after blowing a 10-point lead in the first half. In the second half, both teams battled to the end. Simpson cut OIT's 10-point second half lead to one with one minute left in the game. The Lady Red Hawks, however, couldn't keep the momentum in their favor. OIT defeated Simpson 71-67.
The Lady Red Hawks showed off their impressive long-distance scoring abilities by shooting 50 percent (6-for12) from the three-point line in the first half.
Freshman Bekah Wofford led Simpson with 23 points and five rebounds. Fifteen of her points came from 5-of-10 shooting from behind the three-point arc. Senior Tiffany Johnson contributed 10 points and four rebounds. Freshman Nichole Jones poured in nine points. Freshman Crystal Nybo and junior Charissa Murakami each scored six points.
OIT had four players who scored in the double-digit range for the night. Karissa Dixon led OIT with 14 points and seven rebounds. Cassi Conditt scored 13 points and had seven rebounds. Aundrea Albright and Crissy Watts each added 12 points. Brittany Cherry pulled down 12 rebounds for OIT.
The Lady Red Hawks return to action when they travel to McMinville, Ore., to take on Linfield College on Friday, Dec. 10. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
