Slow start costs Simpson in game against Westminster
Simpson University Sports News
REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University's women's basketball team lost at home to Westminster College on Saturday, Nov. 20. Simpson lost 78-61.
The Lady Red Hawks came out slow and sluggish in the first half and were down 47-23 at halftime. In the second half Coach Pringle, Jr. switched up his line-up and started five freshmen (Nichole Jones, Bekah Wofford, Kaity Hahn, Crystal Nybo, and Melanie Shank). This change gave Simpson instant energy and aggressive play. Simpson outscored Westminster 38-31 in the second half, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome. The Lady Griffins defeated the Lady Red Hawks 78-61.
Senior Tiffany Johnson led Simpson with 17 points, and Jones contributed 13 points. Wofford followed with 11 points. Janteal Jackson lead Westminster with 16 points and six rebounds. Allie Eastman added 13 points for the Lady Griffins.
The Lady Red Hawks return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 24 against Oregon Institute of Technology. The game will be held in the Heritage Student Life Center in Redding, Calif. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
