Lady Red Hawks cruise past Bethany

REDDING, Calif. - In the last two home games of the season the Simpson University Lady Red Hawks look to finish off the regular season strong. They got off to a good start Thursday night by defeating Bethany University 62-32.
With 11:37 to go in the first half, Bethany was hanging in strong, tying the game at 11-11. Simpson, however, went on a 19-6 run to finish out the first half. As a team, Simpson shot 40 percent from the field compared to Bethany’s 29 percent.
The Red Hawks continued to dominate the game in the second half. Senior Dominique Simmons led the charge for the Red Hawks with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Simmons and sophomore Paige Barrett led Simpson’s balanced offensive attack. Barrett scored 11 points, including two long range three pointers. Simpson also showed a solid defensive effort. The Red Hawks’ pressure defense led to 26 Bethany turnovers.
Simpson’s last home game will be Saturday, February 21 at the Heritage Student Life Center against Menlo College. Senior night festivities will be held prior to the start of the game. The seniors being honored are Dominique Simmons, Leslie Hirshfield, and Alyssa Foster. The senior night festivities will kick-off at 5:15 p.m., and tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
