Lady Red Hawks cruise past Jessup

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University Lady Red Hawks defeated William Jessup University 72-46 on Thursday, Jan. 14 in the Heritage Student Life Center.

The Lady Red Hawks jumped out to a 39-23 lead in the first half holding William Jessup to 28 percent from the field. Sophomore Kayla Rackley was the leading scorer in the first half with eight points.

In the second half, the Lady Red Hawks continued their dominance shooting 42 percent from the 3-point line and 83 percent from the foul line. Simpson also held William Jessup to 37 percent from the field and 0 percent from the 3-point line (0-6 3pt).

Rackley led Simpson with a career high 19 points and five rebounds. Freshman Kaila Smith contributed 11 points and six rebounds and, sophomore Paige Barrett followed with 10 points and two assists.

The Lady Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, Jan.16 against Holy Names University in Oakland, Calif. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. Listen to the game live at this link. Pre-game show with Dan Anderson will start 10 minutes before the game.
