Red Hawks do well in first invitational of the season

PRINEVILLE, Ore. - The Simpson University men's and women's golf teams traveled to Prineville, Ore., to play in the Concordia Cavalier Classic on September 13-14. The men's golf team finished third out of nine teams. The women's golf team finished fifth out of seven teams in their first ever appearance.

The men's team broke school records at this invitational. The Red Hawks shot 294 in round two and then broke it again shooting 293 in round three. The women's team set a school record by shooting a 352 in the second round.

The men's team had three golfers finish in the top 20. Micah Eppler finished seventh with a score of 216. Mitch Card finished tied for 14th with a score of 221. Nick Maddalena finished 17th with a score of 222. The women's team had one golfer finish in the top 20. Stephanie Hammell finished 19th with a score of 269.
