REDDING, Calif. - California Pacific Conference champion William Jessup University won one of the four individual honors and also placed three players on the first team of the California Pacific all-conference women's soccer squad, Commissioner Don Ott announced on Monday, Nov. 15.

Menlo's Amanda Torres won the conference's Player of the Year award. Holy Names University coach Nick Lusson won the Coach of the Year award for the second year in a row. William Jessup's Katie Rappazzo won Newcomer of the Year, and Menlo's Megan McKee won Defender of the Year. Simpson University's Nicole Goens won the Freshman of the Year award.

Torres was joined on the first team by teammates McKee and Christian Ruiz. William Jessup was represented by Jacque Cassell, Lindsey Cesena and Elli Tremblay. Holy Names also had three representatives on the first team in Monique Reyes, Erica Udell and India Pleasant. Simpson's Courtney Opie also made the first team.

Commissioner Don Ott had this to say about the all-conference announcement: "This was the closest balloting I have ever witnessed in nearly 25 years of working in athletics. The top three vote-getters for the player of the year award were separated by just three total points. The vast majority of the players honored by the coaches' votes are underclassmen, which speaks volumes for the success of the conference now and into the future. All the honorees are deserving and have my congratulations on a great season."
