Simpson earns third straight conference victory

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University's women's soccer team picked up its third straight conference win on Saturday, Oct. 16. The Lady Red Hawks defeated the visiting Menlo Oaks 2-1.

Menlo got off to a quick start when Amanda Torres scored in the opening five minutes of the game. Simpson's defensive responded to the goal by allowing only one shot on the goal for the rest of the game.

Senior Courtney Opie evened the score at one in the 24th minute. Junior Morgan DeFazio scored the winning goal in the 71st minute off a Karissa Hansen assist. Menlo's goalie Natalie Schrader recorded four saves.

The Lady Red Hawks return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 26 against William Jessup University in Rocklin, Calif. The Lady Warriors won the first game between these two teams. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
