Simpson wins impressive league game over Mills College

REDDING, Calif. - Junior Liz Meza had a breakout game to help lead the Simpson University women's soccer team to a 9-0 victory over Mills College on Wednesday, Nov. 3. Meza scored her two goals within five minutes of each other in the first half. Junior Marchella Melloni picked up the assist on Meza's first goal.

Freshman Nicole Goens started things off for the Lady Red Hawks with a goal 14 minutes into the first half. Nine minutes later, junior Rebecca Borrelli scored off an assist from junior Megan Furze. Meza's two goals rounded out Simpson's scoring in the first half. Senior Heather Perez and junior Kalley Jo Goodell scored within four minutes of each other in the second half to bring Simpson to a 6-0 victory.

The Lady Red Hawks out-shot Mills 20-2. Simpson had 12 shots on goal compared to Mills' on shot on goal. Goalies Morghan Pomeroy and Natasha Kamps each recorded a scoreless half for Simpson.

Simpson returns to action against conference opponent Bethany University on Friday, Nov. 5. Kick off is at 11 a.m.
