Simpson earns first conference win against Mills

OAKLAND, Calif. - On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Simpson University's women's soccer team traveled to Oakland, Calif., to face Mills College. The Lady Red Hawks came away with the 6-0 victory. This win brings Simpson to 1-2 in the Cal Pac.

Simpson's offense and defense were both solid for the entire game. The Lady Red Hawks out-shot Mills 24-1, and 14 of those shots were shots on goal. Simpson scored five of their goals in the second half. Freshman Morghan Pomeroy recorded a save on Mills' only shot.

Nine different players contributed to Simpson's dominance of the offensive side of the game. Senior Courtney Opie had another outstanding game. She scored two goals and recorded an assist. She had nine shots seven of which were on goal. Ashley Smith, Heather Perez, Melissa Melloni, and Nicole Goens each scored a goal. Kalley Jo Goodell, Marchella Melloni, Samantha Rangel, and Bethany Dunlap each had an assist.

The Lady Red Hawks' next game is Tuesday, Oct. 12. This is a Cal Pac conference game against Bethany University. The Game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
