Lady Red Hawks improve to .500 in conference play

REDDING, Calif. - Freshman Nicole Goens led the Simpson University's women's soccer team to a 5-0 win over the visiting Bethany University Bruins on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Goens' performance featured two goals and one assist.

The Lady Red Hawks out-shot the Lady Bruins 12-2. Five out of Simpson's six shots on goal hit their mark. Bethany had one shot on goal which freshman goalie Morgan Pomeroy successfully saved.

In addition to Goens' strong play, senior Courtney Opie, junior Megan Furze, and freshman Bethany Dunlap each scored one goal. Freshman Kaylee Lommori recorded assists on both Goens' goals. Goens recorded her assist on Opie's goal. Bethany's Sierra Licata and Faith Hall each recorded one shot.

The win over Bethany puts Simpson's league record at 2-2. The Lady Red Hawks will face conference opponent Menlo College for the first time on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Simpson soccer field. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
