APU hands Simpson another loss

AZUSA, Calif. - Simpson University's men's baseball team took on Azusa Pacific University on Wednesday, Jan. 26 on the second day of a two-game series. APU won the first meeting 8-3. They won the second game 9-2.

Junior Daveron Ross scored Simpson's only two runs. He scored in the top of the first inning off senior Chris Moody's single to right center field. He scored again in the top of the fourth off junior Angel Marti's single up the middle.

APU scored runs in the second, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings to claim the 9-2 victory. Jonathan Erb went 2-for-2 and scored three runs. Matt Kimmel went 1-for-3 and scored two runs.

Junior Scott McKeen was the starting pitcher for Simpson. He pitched 5.2 innings and gave up five hits and eight runs. He was credited with the loss. Junior Nick Mikkelson pitched two innings and gave up one hit and one run. Cameron Ross was the winning pitcher for Azusa.

Simpson The Red Hawks continue their Southern California road trip by competing against Cal Baptist on Jan. 27-28.
