Simpson shut out by UBC

ATHERTON, Calif. - Simpson University's men's baseball team played No. 2 University of British Columbia in round one of the NAIA West Regional Qualifying Tournament on Wednesday, May 4. The Thunderbirds shut out the Red Hawks 5-0.
University of British Columbia got on the board in the top of the second by scoring one run. They added three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 4-0 lead. The Thunderbirds finished out the game with a run in the top of the ninth to seal their 5-0 victory.
Senior Brad Hurn was the losing pitcher for Simpson. He pitched 6.1 innings and gave up six hits and four runs. Sophomore Kris Warner went 1-for-3. Junior Chad Alden was perfect from the plate going 3-for-3.
The Red Hawks return to action on Thursday, May 5 at 9 a.m.
