Simpson loses nail bitter to Bethany

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team faced Bethany University on Friday, Feb. 18 in Scotts Valley, Calif. The Bruins defeated the Red Hawks 81-78.

The game evenly matched and a battle for both teams. Simpson had a 44-40 lead at halftime. In the second half, Bethany outscored Simpson 41-34 to take away the 81-78 victory. The Red Hawks shot 38 percent from the field and 38 percent from the three-point line. Bethany shot 47 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc.

Simpson junior Bryan Castillo had a game high 32 points. Seniors Pat Magno and Justin Chapel each had 11 points. Sophomore Daniel Bartow scored 10 points.

The Red Hawks return to action against Menlo College on Saturday, Feb. 19 in Atherton, Calif. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
