Red Hawks lose heartbreaking Homecoming game against CSU Maritime
Simpson University Sports News
REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team played the CSU Maritime Academy Keelhaulers on Saturday, Feb. 12 in Redding, Calif. This game was both Homecoming and senior night for the Red Hawks. Seniors Pat Magno, Nathan King, Justin Chapel, and Jamaal Thompson all played their last regular season home game for Simpson. The game was hard fought by both teams the entire night. CSU Maritime, however, came away with the 66-61 victory.
The Red Hawks came ready for battle in the first half. They played aggressive offensive by continually attacking the basket. They also played solid defense. Simpson was up by seven at halftime.
In the second half, the Red Hawks lost some of their offensive momentum. Instead of attacking the basket like they did in the first half, they chose to take a lot of outside shots. Simpson held the lead until the last three minutes of the game. CSU Maritime was able to come from behind and claim victory.
Simpson returns to action on Friday, Feb. 18 against Bethany University in Scotts Valley, Calif. Tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
